Investment criteria
The funds of MKB Fonds target robust and mature SMEs with promising growth prospects, and where there is a need for (phased) business succession. In these situations, the entrepreneur remains involvement and retains a significant financial stake. Additionally, MKB Fonds facilitates the further professionalisation of the business, fostering growth opportunities through strategies such as buy-and-build.
Dutch SME company
The headquarters of the SME must be located in the Netherlands.
Wholesale or business services
MKB Fonds primarily invests in robust and mature (family) businesses in the wholesale and business services sectors.
Mature company
The SME company has been active in its current market for at least five years, and has a solid continuity perspective.
Stably profitable
MKB Fonds invests in stable, profitable enterprises with an operational profitability (EBITDA) of at least € 500 thousand for business service providers and € 750 thousand for wholesalers.
Exclusively majority stakes
MKB Fonds exclusively acquires majority stakes in SMEs. The minimum stake in the portfolio company is 50%, and the maximum stake is 75%.
Enterprise value ranging from € 3 mln. to € 15 mln.
If the enterprise value exceeds this range, an investment may still be feasible through collaboration with co-investors.
